FootFall

footfallSomewhere in the late 90’s, after many years of working with bands, I began to realize that much of the music playing in my head would never be properly expressed within an ensemble environment.

Greatly inspired by the sonics of synthesizers and other electronic instruments, I began work on music under the moniker FootFall. Over the next couple of years, I would become quite active in several online music communities while releasing two mp3-based cds titled Kinetix and Ecosystems, both of which received many positive responses.

Since then I’ve been intent on becoming more focused on exploring “my sound” and understanding better what my musical voice may be. My two most recent releases, Empyrean and Battery Street (a collaboration with long time musical friend Darrell Burgan) are the results of this endeavor.

Battery Street ( 2008 ) – John H Lewis and Darrell Burgan
Abstract ambient space music

The culmination of a collaboration of over 4 years,  “Battery Street” is the result of a pairing of ambient music contemporaries Darrell Burgan and John Lewis. It’s a release designed to evoke memories and emotions related to a period of time and also a location relevant to both of the artists. Disjointed at times and yet focused in intent, this release washes the listener in the thoughts and feelings one might experience at any given time while being in the namesake local.

Empyrean Album Thumb

Empyrean ( 2004 ) – FootFall
Abstract ambient space music

Partially concrete, partially abstract, Empyrean is a collection of contemplations regarding the cosmos. It is an attempt to evoke the chaos and beauty inherent in the universe. Lovers of ambient space music and abstract / experimental music alike are sure to enjoy this album.
